Some of my friends used to go absolutely nuts over battling. It wasn't even fair (we couldn't even play anything else! Well, it was that way on Mario Kart DS.).
I don't even own Mario Kart Wii (one of my friends does) and my rank for racing is over 7,000. Well, at least I think it is...

racing. I just think it is more fun. also you get to choose different karts/bikes in racing.
